The mission of the
Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center (Pacific
AETC) is to provide health care professionals with
the knowledge and skills necessary to care for
HIV-infected patients and to increase the numbers of
trained health care professionals working with
HIV-infected patients in the community.
The Pacific AETC
is funded by the federal Ryan White CARE Act to
provide education and training to health care
providers on the front line of HIV clinical care in
California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii. It is one
of 15 regional AETCs that cover all 50 states,
Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Headquartered
at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF),
the Pacific AETC utilizes a decentralized training
model, with multidisciplinary faculty trainers at 17
performance sites.
