Childhood Immunization Registry Partnership

The
Childhood Immunization Registry Partnership (ChIRP) is a project funded
through an Immunization Collaboration Grant through the California
Department of Health Services, Immunization Program and a grant from
First 5 Madera County. The Childhood Immunization Registry
Partnership is linking urban and rural immunization providers in
Fresno,
Madera, Kings and Tulare County to the
Central Valley Immunization Information System (CVIIS), which is
comprised of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mono and Tulare Counties. This
internet-based system maintains confidential computerized records of the
immunizations that a child receives and provides parents and health care
providers throughout the Central Valley region with information and data
to ensure that children are adequately protected against vaccine
preventable diseases.
Registry Goals
The implementation of immunization registries will be the single most
effective method for raising immunization rates for children of all
backgrounds. Maintaining a computerized registry of immunization
information will:
 |
Consolidate in one site, all immunizations a child has
received. |
 |
Help ensure that a child’s immunizations
are up to date. |
 |
Reduce duplicate immunizations and their
associated costs. |
 |
Help identify high-risk and
under-immunized populations. |
 |
Help control vaccine-preventable diseases
and prevent disease outbreaks. |
The
Childhood Immunization Partnership will work with immunization providers
in Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties by providing technology
assessments and training necessary for their participation on this
web-based registry. If you are a health care provider who would like to
learn more about how to participate in the registry, contact Program
Managers, Eric Dansby or Catherine Martin at (559) 446-2323 or go
to
www.cviis.org to complete a provider interest form.
